About Conair
Conair was founded in 1956 by entrepreneur John Reib in Franklin, Pennsylvania, making it one of the earliest companies to recognize the need for automated material handling in plastics processing. Reib focused on increasing yields for injection molders and extruders, and the company quickly became the dominant name in auxiliary equipment. After being acquired by GWH Holdings in 1986, Conair expanded aggressively through the late 1980s and 1990s, acquiring granulator maker Wor-Tex, robotics manufacturer Martin Inc., and pipe and profile extrusion equipment builder Gatto Machinery, while also establishing international divisions in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Today Conair operates as part of Piovan Group and manufactures from facilities in the USA, China, and India.
Conair's core product lines span the full range of plastics auxiliary needs. The Thermolator TW Series water temperature controllers are available in direct injection, closed circuit, and isolated circuit cooling configurations, in single-zone and dual-zone models, and cover process temperatures to 250°F; oil-based Thermolator units extend that range to approximately 400°F for demanding mold-temperature applications. Resin drying is covered by the Carousel Plus, MicroWheel, EnergySmart, SlimLine, and ResinWorks dryer families, handling everything from desiccant drying of hygroscopic resins to simple hot-air drying. The TrueBlend gravimetric batch blender series delivers blend accuracy to within 0.5 percent for resins, regrind, and additives, while vacuum loaders such as the DuraLoad, Access AL, and TLM Tube Loader series automate material conveying from storage to machine throat. Granulators span beside-the-press, central, and thermoforming configurations under the Conair and Conair Wortex names.
Conair equipment serves a broad cross-section of plastics processing industries. Injection molders, extruders, blow molders, thermoformers, and compounders all rely on Conair auxiliary systems. Key end markets include automotive components, flexible and rigid packaging, medical device manufacturing, consumer electronics, and beauty and household goods. Conair was notably the first auxiliary equipment supplier to document product designs specifically for the medical industry, developing 24 dedicated products across 135 models for cleanroom and regulated environments.
Buyers seeking used Conair equipment on the secondary market cite several consistent advantages. The company maintains over $18 million in spare parts inventory and ships the vast majority of parts orders within 48 hours, meaning even older machines remain easy and affordable to support. Conair's heavy-gauge construction and industrial-grade components give its temperature controllers, dryers, granulators, and blenders exceptionally long service lives — the company itself still supplies parts for machines that have been running for more than 50 years. That durability, combined with strong brand recognition and a large installed base, gives used Conair auxiliary equipment strong resale value and a ready supply of qualified service technicians.
