Dri-Air Industries has supplied the plastics industry with desiccant and compressed-air drying technology since 1974 from a single facility at 16 Thompson Road in East Windsor, Connecticut. Resin drying is the company's only focus, and that narrowness shows in the product design. Dri-Air claims a series of industry firsts including the first low dewpoint dryer at 100°F, the first portable dryer and hopper systems, the first 10 cfm desiccant dryers with matching hoppers, early adoption of microprocessor control using thermocouple inputs, and the introduction of closed-loop dry air conveying.

The dryers use 2-bed and 4-bed desiccant tower designs built from stainless steel inside and out, with the 4-bed configuration patented and operating with no moving parts. The line covers 1 to 3,000 pounds per hour in machine-mounted, portable, and central configurations. Dri-Air specifies dewpoints down to -131°F, well below the -40°F figure common in general-purpose drying, which is what allows reliable processing of demanding engineering and hygroscopic resins such as nylon, polycarbonate, PET, PEEK, PEI, PPS, and TPU regardless of ambient conditions. The company attributes short drying times, as low as roughly 20 minutes, to the combination of high-pressure vortex blowers, double-cone hopper diffusers that direct heat through the full pellet bed, and the low dewpoint air. A closed-loop dry-air recirculating option supports crystallizing and drying multiple batches of PET and other amorphous resins.

Beyond dryers, Dri-Air builds vacuum hopper loaders, closed-loop loading systems, full-flow electric dryer valves, insulated stainless drying hoppers, blending systems, central drying and conveying installations, and a micro dryer aimed at micro-molding cells. The company integrates Maguire WSB-140 series weigh scale blenders into its combined drying and blending products so that dried resin stays dry through blending. Controls have moved to SmartTouch, which is OPC/UA and Modbus ready for plant data integration, with a SmartView desktop application that monitors up to four dryers at once showing status, dewpoint, hopper state, regeneration status, and IP address.

Used Dri-Air equipment is attractive on the secondary market because the machines are mechanically straightforward, built in the U.S., and designed for serviceability - both the desiccant beds and the process and regeneration heaters are reached by removing band clamps that hold the extension body and cones together, so a desiccant change or heater replacement is a short job rather than a teardown. That also means a used dryer with spent desiccant is not a problem, just a consumable to budget for. Common inspection points include desiccant condition, heater band and blower health, dewpoint sensor presence and calibration, regeneration valve operation, control generation, and hopper insulation condition. Note that Dri-Air also runs a TradeUp program on new dryers, which occasionally puts well-maintained trade-in units into the used channel.
