About Used Two-Shot & Multi-Component Molding
Two-shot and multi-component injection molding machines (also known as 2-shot plastic molding, multi shot molding, or multishot injection molding equipment) produce parts with two or more materials, colors, or durometers in a single molding cycle. This eliminates secondary assembly operations, reduces costs, and creates parts with superior bonding between materials.
These specialized machines feature multiple injection units and typically use a rotary platen or index plate to move parts between stations. Common applications include soft-touch grips on rigid handles, multi-color automotive lenses, seals and gaskets molded directly onto rigid housings, and medical devices requiring multiple material properties.
Meadoworks stocks used two-shot and multi-component injection molding machines from Engel, Arburg, Krauss Maffei, Milacron, and Nissei. Contact us at 800-323-0307 for current availability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is two-shot injection molding?
Two-shot injection molding (also called 2-shot plastic molding, multi shot molding, or multishot injection molding) produces parts with two different materials or colors in a single cycle. The machine has two injection units — the first shot creates a substrate, then the mold rotates and the second shot is injected over or around the first. This creates a strong chemical bond between materials without secondary assembly.
How much does a used two-shot injection molding machine cost?
Used two-shot plastic injection molding machines typically cost 30-50% more than single-material machines of similar tonnage due to the additional injection unit, rotary platen, and complex controls. Prices range from $75,000 for smaller machines to $500,000+ for large multi-component systems. Contact Meadoworks at 800-323-0307 for current pricing.
