About Wellsaw
Wellsaw traces its roots to 1926, when William F. Wells founded the Wells Manufacturing Company in Three Rivers, Michigan, to design and produce hinge-type metal cutting bandsaws. Two of those original models proved so durable and popular that they remained in continuous production for generations. In 1986 the Wellsaw bandsaw division was purchased and relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where the company still operates today as Wellsaw, Inc., a sister company to W.F. Wells, Inc., both under common ownership.
The company's product line centers on vertical and horizontal metal cutting bandsaws built entirely from domestic components. The vertical bandsaw line is anchored by the W-20 and its successor, the V-20F, which features a two-speed oil-bath gearbox, variable-speed VFD motor drive, a precision ground cast iron table, and rotating blade guides that allow operators to cut long stock without interference from the saw frame. On the horizontal side, the scissors-type Model 1016 has been the industry standard since 1933, while the swivel-head Model 1316S and semi-automatic Model 1316S-SA extend the range to miter cuts up to 60 degrees and larger production volumes.
Used Wellsaw bandsaws are found across a wide range of metalworking industries, including steel service centers, metal fabrication and structural shops, tool and die rooms, foundries, job shops, and general manufacturing facilities. The vertical models are particularly valued in foundry and contour-sawing applications, while horizontal models handle high-volume bar and structural stock cutting in production environments.
Buyers seeking used Wellsaw equipment consistently cite the machines' all-steel construction, long service life, and the manufacturer's exceptional parts support as primary reasons to invest in a pre-owned machine. Wellsaw maintains a full parts inventory for saws built since 1933, with same-day shipping on most orders, which means a decades-old used Wellsaw can be returned to full service quickly and economically. That combination of rugged build quality and readily available domestic parts gives used Wellsaw bandsaws strong resale value and low total cost of ownership.
