About Addex

USAEst. 1989

Addex Inc. was founded in July 1989 by Bob Cree and Rick von Kraus and entered the blown film industry with the first microprocessor-based Internal Bubble Cooling (IBC) control, later the first all-digital IBC. Through the 2000s Addex built complete air-cooled blown film lines — 4.5" single-screw extruders with smooth-bore or groove-feed barrels, IBC dies, automatic air rings and gauge controls — from its Stoughton, Massachusetts plant, before consolidating to Newark, New York in 2015–2016 and narrowing its focus to bubble cooling and control technology.

Today Addex is known for its EGC automatic profile control, Digital IBC controls, LFR and MGC dual-flow air rings, and the patented Intensive Cooling air ring, which sits down on the die and raises output 10–15% or more on both monolayer and barrier lines. The company holds more than 20 U.S. patents. Windmöller & Hölscher Corporation acquired Addex effective August 1, 2025; it continues to operate under its own name with a focus on the U.S. and Canadian markets.

On the used market, Addex appears two ways: complete 4.5" blown film lines built in the 2000s and early 2010s (often paired with Techflow dies, Decatex haul-offs and Macro winders), and Addex IBC and air-ring retrofits fitted to lines from other builders. Meadoworks lists both, with photos, component-by-component specifications and inspection visits arranged.
