Bomar, spol. s r.o. was founded in Brno in 1993 with six employees, about 120 square meters of shop space, and a single band saw model. Demand for practical, lower-cost saws pushed the range out quickly, and within a few years more than half of production was exported through a dealer network in Europe, Asia, and America. In 2007 the company moved into a new plant in Brno-Slatina. It remains a Czech manufacturer, part of the BEC Solution Group, and states that it has delivered more than 70,000 band saws.

The program covers the cut, not only the saw head. Band saws run from manual pivot machines through semi-automatic and fully automatic models to CNC sawing centers. Circular saws sit with ExactCut, established in 1997 for high-performance circular saws and cutting centers. Around the saw, Bomar builds roller conveyors, length measuring, and feed systems, and it supplies saw bands, deburring equipment, and accessories so the line can come from one maker.

Current band-saw families include the Transverse miter series, Compact, Construction, and Proline. On a Transverse 610.440 the suffix matters. GANC is the automatic NC version and DGH is the semi-automatic double-miter. Capacity at 90 degrees is the same on both — 440 mm round and 610 by 440 mm rectangular — but the control and the miter range are not. The arm marking is the authority. On a used machine, confirm that marking, then look at the hydraulic vise, blade guides, and whether the original infeed and outfeed conveyors are still with the saw. Hours are rarely presented the way a machining-center control shows them, so condition is read from the arm, guides, vise, and hydraulics. Read the voltage on the electrical cabinet rather than assuming a European 400 volt supply.

Parts and blades are still a factory business. Bomar lists service and spare parts from Brno, and the Transverse series is a current product line, which keeps the common wear items available. The 610.440 series uses a 5,200 by 34 by 1.1 mm blade at 20 to 120 meters per minute. A saw that still has its conveyors and a readable control is a straightforward structural or tube cut-off machine, not an orphaned one-off.

For a used buyer the value is in the package. The head without the infeed and outfeed is a different machine than the same head with 20 feet of conveyor on each side.
