About Pillar Induction

USAEst. 1966

Pillar Induction was founded in 1966 in West Allis, Wisconsin, when it introduced the first solid-state induction heating power supply, fundamentally changing the induction industry. Over the following decades the company grew through strategic acquisitions, absorbing the Westinghouse Induction Systems brand in 1986 and Cycle-Dyne from Lindberg in 1989. In 2002 the organization was reorganized as Pillar Induction Company, and in 2011 Ajax Tocco Magnethermic acquired its assets and intellectual property. The company has operated from its Brookfield, Wisconsin facility since 1999, with an additional induction heat treating center in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Pillar Induction's product line spans the full range of induction technology. Its power supplies, including the IGBT-based MK-11 series with PLC/HMI operator interfaces and Ethernet connectivity, serve as the backbone of its systems. The company manufactures induction brazing and soldering systems, induction heat treating systems, induction forging systems, tube and pipe heating systems, mass heating systems, and both melting and holding furnaces for metals including cast iron, steel, bronze, and aluminum. Brazing systems in particular represent a well-established part of the Pillar catalog, available in compact configurations suited to precision joining applications.

Pillar Induction serves a broad cross-section of heavy and precision manufacturing industries, including foundry and casting operations, automotive and hydraulic component manufacturing, oil country tubular goods production, aerospace heat treating, and general metalworking. Its equipment is found wherever repeatable, energy-efficient induction heating is required at the production floor level.

Buyers seeking used Pillar Induction equipment value the company's reputation for robust, long-lived construction and the availability of replacement components backed by decades of engineering continuity. The solid-state power supply architecture that Pillar pioneered translates into lower operating costs and consistent process control, making pre-owned Pillar brazing and heating systems an attractive investment for shops looking to add proven induction capability without the cost of new equipment.
