About Trumpf
Trumpf was founded in 1923 when Christian Trumpf acquired the mechanical workshops of Julius Geiger GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. The company initially produced flexible shafts for dental and printing applications before pivoting to sheet metal tooling in the 1950s. A defining moment came in 1968 when Trumpf introduced the Trumatic 20, the first sheet metal processing machine with numerical continuous-path control, which caused a sensation at the European Machine Tool Exhibition in Paris. In 1979 the company entered laser technology with the Trumatic 180 combination punch-laser machine, and by 1985 had developed its own CO2 laser resonator. Trumpf relocated its headquarters to Ditzingen, near Stuttgart, in 1972, where it remains today.
