About Atom
Atom S.p.A. was founded in 1946 in Vigevano, Italy, by three entrepreneurs who set out to build precision cutting machinery for the footwear and leather goods trades. Over the following decades the company grew into a global operation, establishing production plants in Brazil and China alongside its Italian headquarters, and today operates under the Atom Cutting name with more than 70 years of continuous manufacturing experience. The 2012 collaboration with fellow Vigevano firm Chiesa Artorige further broadened the group's range of cutting solutions.
Atom's core product line is its family of oildynamic clicker presses and die cutting systems. The swing-beam SE Series is the company's most widely recognized line, offering automatic stroke-end setting and built-in two-hand safety controls across models ranging from 8 to 25 tons of cutting force, with bed sizes up to 20 by 40 inches. The S100 Series adds a three-button cutting-power selector for fast switching between dies of different heights, while the Multiforce Series automatically sets cutting pressure and reduces cutting-pad wear by up to 50 percent. For higher-volume production, the HSP traveling head series scales up to 35 tons and beyond, moving the cutting head across a wide bed to maximize material utilization.
Atom clicker presses and die cutting machines serve a broad range of end markets. Footwear and leather goods manufacturing has historically been the company's primary sector, but the machines are equally at home cutting foam, rubber, soft plastics, textiles, synthetic leather, cardboard, gaskets, and automotive interior components. Medical device manufacturers, packaging converters, and makers of sports accessories and furniture components also rely on Atom cutting equipment for repeatable, high-precision part production.
Buyers seeking used Atom die cutting presses consistently cite the machines' cast-iron construction, long service life, and straightforward hydraulic architecture as key reasons to source them on the secondary market. Replacement parts and consumables remain widely available through the global Atom distributor network, keeping older SE Series and HSP Series presses productive for decades. The combination of robust build quality, low maintenance requirements, and strong resale value makes a used Atom clicker press an attractive alternative to new equipment for shops that need reliable die cutting capacity without the capital outlay of a new machine.
