About Kaeser
Kaeser Kompressoren was established on June 27, 1919, by Carl Kaeser Sr. as a machine workshop in Coburg, Germany. After World War II, the company pivoted from automotive components to compressed air equipment, shipping its first reciprocating compressor in 1948. Carl Kaeser Jr. then drove the company's next major leap: the development of rotary screw compressors built around the proprietary Sigma Profile rotor, first delivered in 1975. Today the family-owned business employs approximately 8,000 people worldwide and manufactures at two sites in Germany — Coburg and Gera.
Kaeser's core product lines center on rotary screw air compressors and compressed air dryers. The rotary screw range spans from compact belt-drive models in the SX, SM, and SK series through mid-range ASD, BSD, and CSD units, up to the heavy-duty DSD, ESD, and FSD series covering 125 to 450 hp in direct-drive configuration. Variable-speed versions are offered across the range under the Sigma Frequency Control (SFC) designation. On the air treatment side, Kaeser produces the Secotec line of refrigerated dryers — including the TA through TG series — as well as the Kryosec compact refrigeration dryer series (TAH, TBH, and TCH) and a full range of desiccant dryers (KAD, KED, and KBD series) capable of pressure dew points as low as -94°F.
Kaeser compressed air systems serve a broad cross-section of industry. Automotive and steel plants rely on large-frame DSD and HSD compressors for high-volume production air. Food and beverage processors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and electronics facilities depend on Kaeser dryers and oil-free compressors to meet strict air-purity requirements. Plastics processors, metal fabricators, woodworking shops, and general manufacturing plants make up a large share of the installed base for mid-range rotary screw units and packaged Aircenter systems.
Used Kaeser air compressors and air dryers attract strong secondary-market demand for several reasons. The Sigma Profile airend is engineered for low rotor speeds, which translates to reduced wear and exceptional service life — machines from the 1990s and 2000s routinely remain in productive service decades after manufacture. Kaeser's open-package design keeps major components accessible, cutting maintenance time significantly compared with competing units. Parts availability through Kaeser's global service network remains strong even for discontinued series, and the Sigma Control 2 onboard controller makes diagnostics straightforward. Together, these factors give used Kaeser rotary screw compressors and Secotec or Kryosec dryers a reputation for dependability and low total cost of ownership that sustains their resale value.
