About Dynisco
Dynisco was founded in 1953 in Massachusetts and quickly established itself as a pioneer in polymer process instrumentation, becoming the first company to apply strain gauge technology to melt pressure sensors designed specifically for plastics extrusion. Over the following decades the company expanded its product portfolio through organic development and strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of hot runner specialists Kona in 1992 and Eurotool in 1996, which together formed the Dynisco Hot Runners division and gave rise to a broad line of hot runner temperature controllers sold under the Dynisco and Kona brand names. Today Dynisco operates as part of the Indicor family of industrial solutions companies and maintains offices across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Dynisco's instrumentation portfolio centers on melt pressure transducers and transmitters, temperature controllers, and modular hot runner control systems. The MFL-series mainframe controllers are portable, modular units rated at 15 amps per zone and available in configurations ranging from single-zone up to 48-zone capacity, making them adaptable to a wide range of injection mold sizes. The MTL-series mainframes follow a similar modular architecture, while the Kona MF5 represents the legacy Kona hot runner controller line that Dynisco brought to market through its acquisition of Kona Corporation. Dynisco also produced the 1496 and 1498 series DIN-format temperature controllers for extruder barrel and die zone control, along with the TCS and TCE single-loop controllers.
Dynisco instruments and hot runner controllers serve a broad cross-section of plastics processing industries. Injection molders producing automotive components, medical devices, packaging, consumer housewares, and food-contact articles have long relied on Dynisco controls to maintain gate temperature uniformity and reduce scrap. Extrusion operations in tubing, film, sheet, and compounding also depend on Dynisco pressure and temperature instrumentation to stabilize melt conditions and protect downstream equipment.
Buyers seek used Dynisco hot runner controllers because the MFL and MTL mainframe platforms were built to industrial-grade standards with robust metal enclosures and plug-in modular cards that are straightforward to service and reconfigure. Replacement control modules remain widely available through aftermarket suppliers, keeping total cost of ownership low even on older units. The Kona MF5 and MFL-series controllers in particular have a long installed base in North American injection molding shops, which means experienced technicians are familiar with their setup and troubleshooting. For operations running legacy molds tooled around Dynisco or Kona hot runner systems, sourcing a used Dynisco controller is often the most cost-effective path to a drop-in replacement.
