About Thermal Care

USAEst. 1969

Thermal Care was founded in 1969 by Henry Mautner in Niles, Illinois, growing out of Midwesco, an HVAC design and installation company with roots dating to 1931. The company was established specifically to expand into industrial process cooling, developing its first chillers to meet customer demand. In 2013, Thermal Care was acquired by IPEG, Inc., the parent company of The Conair Group, which provided resources for a major facility expansion. Today Thermal Care operates from a 135,000-square-foot headquarters in Niles, Illinois, and serves customers in more than 50 countries.

Thermal Care's flagship product line is the Accuchiller family of industrial water chillers, which spans portable and packaged models as well as large central chiller systems. The portable and packaged range includes the compact Accuchiller EQ Series covering 1 to 3 tons and the workhorse Accuchiller NQ Series from 4 to 40 tons, available in air-cooled, water-cooled, and remote condenser configurations. The NQV Series adds variable-speed scroll compressors for significant energy savings, while the TC Series and TSE Series central chillers scale from 10 to 800 tons for plant-wide cooling. The LQ Series represents an earlier generation of portable water-cooled chillers that remain widely used in the field. Thermal Care also produces the KSE Series of outdoor industrial air-cooled chillers and the TCF Series hybrid film evaporator chiller.

Thermal Care chillers are deployed across a wide spectrum of industries, with plastics processing historically being the company's core market. Additional end markets include medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage, die casting, machine tool and CNC machining, laser equipment, welding machinery, chemical processing, heat treating and induction, and data centers. This broad industrial reach reflects the universal need for precise, reliable process cooling in high-throughput manufacturing environments.

Buyers seeking used Thermal Care chillers on the secondary market consistently cite the brand's reputation for long service life, with the company itself still supplying parts for units installed more than 50 years ago. The robust construction of Accuchiller models, combined with straightforward PLC controls and widely available replacement components, makes maintenance cost-effective over the long term. Energy-efficient designs, including variable-speed compressor options and low-GWP refrigerant compatibility, help used Thermal Care equipment remain competitive with newer alternatives, supporting strong resale value across the product range.
