About Whitlock
Whitlock traces its origins to 1948, when Carl Whitlock formed Whitlock Associates in Oak Park, Michigan, as a sales and equipment representative serving the plastics industry. In 1953 he developed a pneumatic hopper loader in his garage, and by 1957 the firm had grown enough to incorporate as a manufacturer in its own right. Early innovations included a dehumidifying dryer designed to condition plastic resin directly at the molding or extrusion machine, a product that would define the Whitlock brand for decades. The company was later acquired by AEC (Application Engineering Company) and became the AEC Whitlock division, with its conveying and drying expertise folded into AEC's broader auxiliary equipment portfolio under the ACS Group umbrella.
The core of the Whitlock product line is resin drying and material handling. The HA Series hot air drying systems handle non-hygroscopic materials across a wide range of airflow capacities, while the WD Series cabinet and high-capacity dehumidifying dryers serve hygroscopic resins requiring very low dew-point air. The compact AD Series mini cabinet dryers and the ASD Series are designed for beside-the-press applications, and the Nomad and Nomad II portable drying and conveying systems combine an integrated dryer and conveying system on a single portable cart. The CL Series resin crystallizer and the large-capacity ADL Series round out the drying lineup, giving processors options from small single-machine cells to full central drying installations.
Whitlock drying hoppers and dryers are found across virtually every segment of plastics processing. Injection molding operations rely on them to eliminate moisture from hygroscopic resins such as nylon, PET, and polycarbonate before each shot. Extrusion and blow molding plants use the equipment to maintain consistent throughput and surface quality. End markets served include packaging, automotive components, medical device manufacturing, consumer goods, and general industrial molding, wherever moisture-sensitive resins must be conditioned reliably before processing.
Used Whitlock drying hoppers and dryers remain in strong demand on the secondary market because the equipment was engineered for continuous industrial use and tends to outlast its original production environment. The large installed base across North American molding plants means replacement parts and service documentation are readily available through ACS Group and third-party suppliers. Processors looking to add drying capacity quickly, replace aging units, or equip a new cell without new-equipment lead times consistently turn to used Whitlock equipment as a cost-effective, proven solution.
