About Autojectors
Autojectors Inc. was incorporated in Indiana in 1968 and grew its operations from a single facility in Albion, Indiana, into a two-plant manufacturer with additional assembly space in nearby Avilla. Through the late 1980s and 1990s the company expanded steadily, driven by rising demand for insert molding presses, and had become one of North America's largest independent builders of vertical-clamp injection molding machines before being acquired by Cincinnati Milacron in 1998. The Avilla and Albion plants continued to operate under Milacron until consolidation into Milacron's Batavia, Ohio, headquarters in late 2001.
Autojectors built its reputation on a focused lineup of vertical-clamp, hydraulic injection molding machines spanning roughly 6 to 400 tons of clamping force across approximately 30 model configurations. The HS series โ including models such as the HS-35-S and HS-30-S โ provided compact shuttle-table vertical presses well suited to lower-tonnage insert work, while the HCR series addressed heavier-duty rotary-table applications. HCR models ranged from the HCR-40 and HCR-70 through the HCR-90 and HCR-150 up to the large-frame HCR-280, a 280-ton four-station rotary-table press introduced at NPE 2000. All machines featured a vertical clamp with horizontal injection, the configuration that defines Autojectors' engineering identity.
Autojectors vertical insert molding machines served a broad cross-section of manufacturing industries. Automotive suppliers used them to overmold metal terminals, connectors, and sensor housings. Electrical and electronics manufacturers relied on the vertical clamp format to hold delicate inserts in place during the shot. Medical device producers valued the precise, repeatable clamping for small, tight-tolerance components, and appliance and consumer goods molders used the rotary and shuttle configurations to maximize output on high-mix insert programs.
Used Autojectors vertical injection molding machines remain actively sought on the secondary market for several reasons. The machines were built with robust hydraulic systems and heavy-duty C-frame or tie-bar structures that tolerate decades of production use, and the straightforward hydraulic architecture keeps maintenance and repair accessible. Because Autojectors was a private-label supplier to Cincinnati Milacron for five years before the acquisition, many components are shared with or supported by the broader Milacron parts network. The combination of durable construction, a well-documented model range, and comparatively modest acquisition cost makes used Autojectors vertical presses a practical choice for insert molding operations looking to add capacity without the capital outlay of new equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Autojectors known for?
Autojectors is known for manufacturing vertical-clamp insert molding machines, a niche it dominated in North America from the late 1960s through the late 1990s. The company's presses feature a vertical clamp with horizontal injection and were offered in both shuttle-table and rotary-table configurations across a clamping range of roughly 6 to 400 tons.
What industries used Autojectors vertical injection molding machines?
Autojectors vertical insert molding machines were used across automotive, electrical and electronics, medical device, appliance, and consumer goods manufacturing. The vertical clamp format is especially valued in these sectors because gravity holds metal inserts, terminals, and other components in position inside the open mold before the injection shot.
Are parts and support still available for used Autojectors machines?
Because Autojectors served as a private-label vertical machine supplier to Cincinnati Milacron for five years before the 1998 acquisition, many components overlap with the broader Milacron parts ecosystem. The machines' conventional hydraulic architecture also means that a wide range of standard hydraulic and electrical components remain commercially available, supporting ongoing maintenance of used Autojectors presses.
