About Doosan
Doosan's machine tool division traces its origins to 1976, when the company completed construction of its first dedicated machine tools factory in South Korea. Operating initially under the Daewoo Heavy Industries umbrella, the division independently developed its first NC lathe and began exporting CNC machine tools by the early 1980s. In 2005, Doosan acquired Daewoo Heavy Industries and Machinery, bringing the storied Puma turning center line under its banner, and in 2016 the business was spun off as Doosan Machine Tools Co., Ltd. The company rebranded again as DN Solutions in 2022 and today ranks third globally in machine tool sales.
The vertical machining center is the cornerstone of the Doosan lineup. The MV series — including the MV3016LHS — delivered high-speed vertical milling with Fanuc CNC controls, CAT 40 spindle tapers, and 30-position automatic tool changers in a compact, production-ready footprint. The DNM series followed as the company's flagship VMC platform, spanning the DNM 4500, DNM 5700, and DNM 6700 models with direct-coupled spindles, roller guideways, and thermal error compensation. The heavy-duty Mynx series — offered in Mynx 5400, 6500, 7500, and 9500 configurations — targets demanding box-way milling with ISO 50 taper options and table capacities up to 3,500 kg. Across all VMC lines, Doosan pairs its machines with Fanuc controls and its own Easy Operation Package software for fast setup and troubleshooting.
Doosan vertical machining centers serve a broad range of precision manufacturing industries. Aerospace shops rely on them for structural brackets, throttle bodies, and turbine engine components. Automotive and railway manufacturers use Doosan VMCs for engine blocks, fuel pump bodies, suspension parts, and brake components. Mold and die makers, medical device manufacturers producing housings and implant components, oil and gas fabricators, and general job shops all count Doosan vertical machining centers among their core production equipment.
Used Doosan vertical machining centers hold strong appeal on the secondary market for several practical reasons. The machines are built around heavily ribbed cast iron structures, integral box or roller guideways, and high-horsepower spindles that sustain accuracy under load for many years of service. Fanuc controls — standard across most Doosan VMC generations — are among the most widely supported CNC platforms in North America, keeping service technicians, replacement parts, and programming expertise readily available. The large installed base of Doosan machines in the United States means operators are familiar with the platform, reducing retraining costs. Combined with competitive pricing relative to comparable Japanese and European VMCs, used Doosan machining centers consistently deliver strong value for production shops and job shops alike.
CNC lathes and turning centers produce rotational parts including shafts, bushings, fittings, and precision turned components. Modern turning centers add features like live tooling (powered tools for milling/drilling), Y-axis capability, sub-spindles, and bar feeders for complete part production in a single setup. They range from simple 2-axis chucker lathes to complex multi-axis turn-mill centers.
