About Kusakabe
Kusakabe Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. traces its start to 1916 in Kobe, Japan, and took its present name in 1948. The company entered the tube and pipe business in 1959, built its first tube mill in 1960, and exported its first tube line in 1969. The head office and main factory are in Nishi-ku, Kobe.
Kusakabe's range covers an ERW mill from coil handling through sizing: conventional, rotary, modular, H-set, turret, roll-cassette, and QHQ mills, plus weld-bead removal and Turks heads. Cut-off options on the current list are a DNC flying shear press, a Klearcut milling flying cut-off, a rotary disc cut-off, a cold saw, and a friction saw.
The rotary disc cut-off uses two discs that orbit the tube and feed through the wall. Kusakabe rates that style for round tube and pipe up to 100 mm, with no swarf and a small burr rather than a dimple. A separate recut machine uses three rotary discs and is rated for round tube up to 356 mm. Those are different machines; a photo of a green head and an orange chuck is not enough to pick which one is in front of you.
Used buyers should get the nameplate, the tube diameter and wall the mill ran, the control, and the voltage. Feeder tables and stackers are often built with the cut-off and may or may not convey with it. Parts and service sit with the Kobe builder and its overseas companies, so a machine that has been idle needs a power-up, not a guess from a still photo.
