About Netstal
Netstal traces its roots to 1857, when Maschinenfabrik, Eisen- und Messinggießerei Ulrich Rietmann und Cie was established in the Swiss village of Netstal. The company sold its first injection molding machine in 1945 and relocated its headquarters to the Näfels plant in the Canton of Glarus, which has served as its production base ever since. Netstal became part of the KraussMaffei Group in 1992 and, after a period operating under the KraussMaffei HighPerformance AG name, was reestablished as an independent subgroup within the KraussMaffei Group in October 2021.
Netstal's current machine portfolio is built around two flagship horizontal injection molding platforms. The Elion series covers clamping forces from 80 to 420 tonnes and is offered in all-electric and hybrid configurations, with the all-electric models meeting cleanroom class ISO 7 in standard configuration. The Elios series is a high-speed hybrid platform launched in 2016 that extends the range up to 750 tonnes and is engineered specifically for thin-wall packaging applications demanding the shortest possible cycle times. Earlier generations, including the Evos hybrid and the SynErgy series, remain widely used in production environments worldwide. For the beverage sector, Netstal also produces the PET-Line preform system, capable of running molds with up to 144 cavities.
Netstal injection molding machines are concentrated in industries where speed, precision, and repeatability are non-negotiable. The packaging industry relies on Netstal presses for thin-walled containers and lids, while beverage producers use them for caps, closures, and PET preforms. Medical device manufacturers choose the Elion series for its shot-to-shot consistency, integrated force measurement, and cleanroom compatibility. These focused end markets have made Netstal one of the most recognized names in high-cavitation, high-output plastics processing.
Buyers seeking used Netstal injection molding machines are drawn first to the brand's Swiss build quality, which allows machines to retain mechanical accuracy through high cycle counts. The Elion and Elios series both incorporate energy recuperation and adaptive pressure reduction, so even pre-owned machines deliver meaningful energy savings compared with older hydraulic presses. Netstal's global service network and the continued availability of spare parts for multiple generations of machines reduce the risk of buying used equipment. For processors running demanding packaging or medical applications around the clock, a used Netstal horizontal injection molding press offers a proven combination of throughput, precision, and long-term reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Netstal known for?
Netstal is known for high-performance horizontal injection molding machines engineered for short cycle times, exceptional precision, and energy efficiency. The company has specialized for decades in demanding applications such as thin-wall packaging, beverage closures, PET preforms, and medical components, and its Swiss-built machines are recognized for long service life and consistent shot-to-shot repeatability.
Where are Netstal injection molding machines manufactured?
Netstal machines are manufactured at the company's headquarters and production plant in Näfels, in the Canton of Glarus, Switzerland. Netstal has operated from this location since the early 1960s and employs over 500 people there. The company operates as an independent subgroup within the KraussMaffei Group.
Why do buyers choose used Netstal injection molding machines?
Used Netstal injection molding machines are sought after because Swiss manufacturing quality allows them to retain mechanical accuracy even after extensive production use. Their built-in energy recuperation and adaptive pressure reduction systems continue to deliver efficiency advantages over older hydraulic presses, and Netstal's global service network supports parts availability across multiple machine generations.
