About Used Additional Industrial Equipment
Additional equipment is the catch-all for machines that sit around a production floor and do not belong in one process family. Plastics assembly and welding covers ultrasonic welders, heat stakers and dispensing systems that join molded parts after they leave the press. A 3D printer, plastic or metal, is a prototyping or short-run tool, not a substitute for the molding machine beside it.
Converting and laminating covers laminators, coating lines and slitter rewinders for film, sheet and web. Industrial ovens and heat treating covers batch ovens, furnaces and induction heating used to cure, dry or harden a part the process machine already made. Packaging and labeling covers stretch wrappers, labelers, palletizers and case tapers at the end of the line.
Screws, barrels and spare parts are the wear items for an extruder or a molding machine: the screw, the barrel, and the lots of components that come out of a closure. Shop and facility equipment is the furniture of the building: workbenches, cabinets, racks, ladders, carts and fume hoods. Tooling and workholding is vises, chucks, bar feeders and tool holders, the pieces a machining center needs before it can cut.
None of these groups replace the press, the extruder or the machining center. They are the surrounding steps that let that machine ship a finished part instead of a half-done one. Buying used additional equipment is usually a hunt for one of these groups, because a cell is short a welder, a wrapper or a screw, not because someone set out to collect miscellaneous iron.
Meadoworks lists this equipment from the same plant closures, consignments and auctions as the production machines. Buyers who already know the missing step should go straight to that group rather than treat this range as one machine type. A closure often includes the welder, the oven and the stretch wrapper along with the presses. The nameplate carries the group and the basic size or capacity, and buyers can inspect before they commit. Rigging is coordinated with the rest of the load when the machine is heavy enough to need it, and smaller cabinets ship with the cell instead of as a second project.
How to Choose Used Additional Industrial Equipment
How to Choose Among Plastics Assembly, Packaging and Shop Gear
Decide which job is unfinished. If molded parts still need to be joined, you are in plastics assembly: ultrasonic welding for a joint, a heat staker for a post, a dispenser for a bead of adhesive or gasket. If parts are finished and need to leave the dock, you are in packaging: a stretch wrapper, a case taper, a labeler or a palletizer. If the room cannot support the work, you are in shop equipment: a bench, a hood, a rack or a cart.
Do not buy a 3D printer to avoid a mold, and do not buy an oven to avoid a temperature controller on the mold. Those are different jobs. Match the group to the step that is actually missing, then read that group's specs. This overview only sorts the machines.
When a Spare Screw or a Bar Feeder Belongs in the Same Purchase
A screw and barrel wear out on a schedule the press does not. If you are buying an extruder or a molding machine from a closure, look at the spare screw in the same sale before you price a new one. A bar feeder belongs with a lathe, not in a pile of miscellaneous cabinets. Workholding belongs with the machining center that will use the vise.
Buying them in the same lot saves a second round of sourcing. Buying them with no machine in mind fills a mezzanine. Name the machine the accessory serves, confirm the interface, and then decide. Voltage, flight length and collet size are the facts. The word accessory is not.

Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as additional equipment?
Anything on a plant floor that is not the main process machine and is not already filed under plastics auxiliary, CNC, fabrication or metal forming. That means plastics assembly and welding, 3D printers, converting and laminating, ovens and heat treating, packaging and labeling, screws and barrels, shop and facility gear, and tooling and workholding. Each of those is its own group once you know which step you are buying for. This overview is the index.
Is an ultrasonic welder additional equipment or plastics auxiliary?
Here it is plastics assembly, inside additional equipment, because it joins parts after molding rather than drying, loading or cooling the resin. Plastics auxiliary means the equipment that prepares material and controls the mold: dryers, loaders, chillers and thermolators. A welder, a heat staker and a dispenser sit after the press. If you are building a cell, buy the auxiliary with the press and the welder for the joint the part still needs.
Should I buy a 3D printer or a mold for a new part?
Buy the printer when you need a handful of pieces, a fit check, or a shape that will change next month. Buy the mold and a press when you need hundreds or thousands of the same part in a production resin. A printer does not replace a thermolator, a dryer or a machining center. Metal printers and plastic printers are different machines. Match the process, FDM, resin or powder, to the material the part has to be, not to the novelty of the machine.
What should I look for on a used stretch wrapper?
Confirm whether the load turns or the arm turns, and whether an operator has to attach the film. Then look at the prestretch rollers, the mast and carriage, and the cut-and-wipe if the machine claims to be automatic. A turntable bearing that growls is a lift-the-table repair. Controls from the last fifteen years are easier to support than a relay panel. Match throughput, loads per hour, before you match the paint.
Why buy additional equipment from a plant closure?
A closure sells the machines that actually ran together. The welder, the oven, the wrapper and the spare screw often leave with the press, and the interfaces are the ones that plant already solved. You still inspect each piece. A matched cell can save a second truck and a week of guessing at voltage and mounting. Meadoworks lists those lots from closures, consignments and auctions, with the machine group named so you can find the welder without reading past the presses.
