About Sencorp
Sencorp traces its origins to the late 1940s in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where Packaging Industries — the predecessor to Sentinel Corporation and later Sencorp — began manufacturing sealing and forming equipment. The company evolved into one of North America's leading thermoforming machine builders, eventually operating as the thermoforming division of SencorpWhite, a broader packaging and automation group formed through the merger of Sencorp Inc. and White Systems. For decades, Sencorp designed and built its machines entirely at its Hyannis facility, establishing a substantial installed base across the United States and internationally.
Sencorp's flagship product line centers on inline roll-fed thermoformers, with the 2200 and 2500 series representing the machines most commonly found in production environments today. The Model 2200 features a 19-by-23-inch forming area with top-and-bottom quartz heating and servo indexing, while the larger 2500 offers a 30-by-33-inch forming area, a 25-ton forming press, hydraulic trim station, and pin-chain material transport. The 2500G2 and 2500 Ultra variants extended the platform with larger platens and updated controls. Machines across the line are characterized by top-and-bottom preheat ovens, closed-loop temperature control, servo-driven index systems, and Allen-Bradley or proprietary Sentroller control packages. Sheet-fed configurations were also produced for applications requiring pre-cut stock rather than continuous roll material.
Sencorp thermoformers serve a broad range of end markets. Medical device and pharmaceutical packaging — including Tyvek trays, clamshells, and sterile barrier components — has historically been one of the strongest application areas, given the machines' precise temperature control and repeatability. Food packaging, consumer goods, electronics packaging, and automotive interior components round out the primary industries served. The machines process most major thermoplastics, including PET, HIPS, PP, PVC, and ABS, making them versatile across packaging formats from blister packs and clamshells to trays and disposable containers.
Sencorp ceased production of new thermoforming machines in July 2023, which has significantly increased demand for quality used Sencorp equipment. Buyers seeking used Sencorp thermoformers are drawn to the platform's proven mechanical durability, the wide availability of third-party tooling compatible with the 2500 forming area, and the large installed base that supports parts sourcing and technical knowledge in the field. The servo-driven architecture and modular design of the 2200 and 2500 series make them practical candidates for controls upgrades and refurbishment, extending their productive service life well beyond original manufacture dates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sencorp best known for?
Sencorp is best known for its inline roll-fed thermoforming machines, particularly the 2200 and 2500 series, which were widely adopted in medical, food, and consumer packaging applications across North America. The machines earned a strong reputation for precise temperature control, servo-driven indexing, and robust construction capable of sustained high-volume production.
Are Sencorp thermoformers still being manufactured?
Sencorp ceased production of new thermoforming machines in July 2023 when its parent company, SencorpWhite, exited the thermoformer manufacturing business. As a result, the used and pre-owned market is now the primary source for Sencorp inline and sheet-fed thermoformers, and demand for well-maintained machines has increased considerably since that announcement.
What industries use Sencorp thermoforming machines?
Sencorp thermoformers are used across medical device and pharmaceutical packaging, food packaging, consumer goods, electronics, and automotive applications. The machines process most major thermoplastics and are particularly valued in regulated industries like medical packaging, where their repeatable forming quality and precise oven control are critical to meeting sterile barrier and dimensional requirements.
