Vermont Gage traces its roots to Vermont Precision Tools, Inc., which was founded in 1968 by Norman C. Leduc and Raymond R. Boutin. The company began in the metalworking industry making knock-out pins, ejector pins, perforators, and precision round and ground pins. Vermont Gage itself was formed in 1980 as a gage division built on that precision grinding experience, and in 1989 the gage line expanded to cover all classes of tolerances. A thread manufacturing operation opened in Franklin, Kentucky, in 2000 and has been expanded repeatedly as demand for thread products grew.
The flagship product lines are standard pin gages and sets, stocked in steel and Black Guard versions, with Class ZZ pins and Class X pins held in both plus and minus tolerance directions in .0001 inch increments.
