About Mokon
Mokon was founded in 1955 in Buffalo, New York, when company engineers developed their first circulating water temperature control system to meet the precise demands of their own fast-cycle injection molding machines. That original focus on compact, safe, and efficient thermal fluid control defined the company's direction for the next seven decades. Today Mokon designs and manufactures the great majority of its products at its Buffalo facility, and its systems are in service with thousands of customers across multiple continents.
The core of Mokon's product offering is its water temperature control unit lineup, which includes the Duratherm, Hydrotherm II, and Minitherm series — covering process heating up to 380°F with flow rates from 9 to 120 GPM and heating capacities up to 96 kW. For higher-temperature applications, Mokon's HTF Series hot oil units circulate heat transfer fluid at temperatures up to 650°F, with single, dual, and triple zone configurations and heating capacities up to 600 kW; the HTF line spans the HTF 350, HTF 400, HTF 500, HTF 600, HTF ST, HTF NPS, and HTF HF-2 Series. The Iceman portable chiller family — including the SC, SM, LT, Micro, and Dual Circuit Series — delivers process cooling down to -23°F in air-cooled or water-cooled configurations up to 60 tons, while centralized cooling systems scale up to 120 tons and beyond. Mokon also supplies vacuum material loaders for resin conveying in plastics processing environments.
Mokon's temperature control and process cooling equipment serves a broad cross-section of manufacturing industries. Plastics processors — injection molders, blow molders, and extruder operators — represent the company's historical core market, but Mokon systems are equally at home in die casting, rubber processing, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing, food and beverage production, chemical processing, printing and converting, packaging, automotive, aerospace, and composites fabrication. The company's ability to engineer custom systems for cleanroom, hazardous-location, and outdoor environments extends its reach into demanding specialty applications.
Buyers seeking used Mokon water temperature controllers, hot oil units, and chillers consistently cite the brand's reputation for robust, long-service construction as the primary reason these machines hold their value on the secondary market. Non-ferrous and stainless steel wetted components resist corrosion and contamination, reducing long-term maintenance costs. Non-proprietary microprocessor PID controllers mean replacement parts and service support are widely available without dependence on a single supplier. Because Mokon custom-builds the vast majority of its units and has maintained consistent design philosophies across decades, older machines are straightforward to service, and a large installed base ensures that technicians familiar with the equipment are easy to find.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Mokon best known for?
Mokon is best known for its circulating liquid temperature control systems, a product line it has refined since 1955. The company's water temperature controllers, hot oil units, and Iceman portable chillers are widely used in plastics processing, die casting, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other precision process industries.
What is the difference between Mokon water temperature controllers and Mokon hot oil units?
Mokon water temperature controllers, such as the Duratherm and Hydrotherm II series, circulate water for process heating up to 380°F and are the standard choice for injection molding and similar applications. Mokon hot oil units, including the HTF Series, circulate heat transfer fluid at temperatures up to 650°F and are used where water-based systems cannot safely reach the required process temperature.
Where are Mokon temperature control systems manufactured?
Mokon designs and manufactures its temperature control systems, chillers, and hot oil units at its facility in Buffalo, New York, USA. The company custom-builds the large majority of units that leave its plant, and all circulating liquid heating and chilling equipment is made in the United States.
