About Chi Mei
Chi Mei was founded in 1960 in Tainan, Taiwan, by Shi Wen-long as Chi Mei Industrial Company, and was the first acrylic sheet manufacturer in Taiwan. The company was renamed CHIMEI Corporation in 1992 and grew into one of the largest ABS producers in the world, with production in Tainan and in mainland China.
Chi Mei's best-known product family is POLYLAC ABS, offered in general-purpose, high-impact, high-flow, heat-resistant, electroplating and flame-retardant grades for appliances, electronics housings, automotive interiors and consumer goods. The company also produces ACRYREX PMMA, POLYREX polystyrene, KIBISAN SAN, KIBITON TPE, KIBIPOL synthetic rubber and WONDERLOY engineering blends.
Buying surplus Chi Mei resin is usually about grade, color and storage. Confirm the exact grade and color code on each bag or gaylord label (for example PA-765 WT369), the lot or batch numbers, how the material was stored, and whether bags are sealed. ABS is hygroscopic, so plan to dry it to the grade's datasheet conditions before molding, and request the datasheet for the specific grade to confirm it suits your part.
Chi Mei resins are distributed in North America through established compounders and distributors, so technical datasheets and replacement material in the same grade are generally easy to source. Matching a surplus lot to a grade you already run is the simplest way to put it to work.
Meadoworks sells surplus resin alongside the molding machines and auxiliaries it handles for molders closing or consolidating plants. Lots are offered as-is, and our team can help you confirm bag counts, labels and pickup logistics before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who makes POLYLAC ABS?
POLYLAC is Chi Mei Corporation's ABS resin brand. Chi Mei is a Taiwan-based materials company that has long been one of the world's largest ABS suppliers.
What should I check before buying a surplus resin lot?
Confirm the grade and color code on the labels, the batch numbers, how many bags or boxes are included, how the material was stored, and whether packaging is sealed. Ask for photos of every label if you cannot inspect in person.
Does surplus ABS need to be dried before molding?
Yes. ABS absorbs moisture, so dry it to the conditions on the grade's technical datasheet before processing, especially if the lot has been stored for some time or bags have been opened.
Where can I get a datasheet for a Chi Mei grade?
Chi Mei and its authorized distributors publish technical datasheets by grade. Search the exact grade name, such as POLYLAC PA-765, to get processing and property data.
Can Meadoworks help with pickup of a resin lot?
Yes. Meadoworks coordinates inspections, bag counts and pickup timing with the current owner, and can arrange shipping quotes on request.
