About CMP
CMP, formally Central Machinery & Plastic Products, is an Indian builder of extrusion blow molding machinery with more than fifty years of manufacturing history. The company operates a head office in Goregaon, Mumbai and a factory at the GIDC industrial estate in Umergaon, Gujarat, and describes itself as among the largest blow moulding machine manufacturers in India, with exports across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.
The catalog is organized by series rather than by a single model grid. The Standard Series covers general-purpose shuttle machines. The Auto Deflashing Series is split into SDH, TDH, and LDH variants, which handle in-machine flash removal so that bottles come off the machine trimmed rather than requiring a separate downstream operation. The Accumulator Series serves large-part and industrial container work where a continuously extruding machine cannot deliver enough shot weight. The Electric Series covers all-electric machines, and the Hybrid Series blends electric and hydraulic actuation. The Multi Layer Series is built in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 layer configurations for barrier and view-stripe applications. CMP also builds its own leak detectors, portable parison controllers, and IML robots for in-mould labelling.
Model designations follow a readable convention worth knowing when identifying a used machine: the numeric prefix indicates container capacity in millilitres, DH denotes the double-head configuration, and a trailing digit indicates the number of stations. A 2000/DH/2, for example, is a 2-litre-class double-head, double-station machine. Series prefixes such as SDH, TDH, and LDH appear on auto-deflashing machines, and designations like 1L2TDH combine capacity, station count, and series.
CMP builds around widely available European and Japanese components rather than proprietary subsystems, which is the single most important fact for a used buyer outside India. The company publicly lists its component suppliers, and they are names any industrial electrician or hydraulic shop can source: Beckhoff for controls, Siemens, Schneider, and ABB for drives and switchgear, Moog, Yuken, Atos, Hydac, and Hydroline for hydraulics, Festo and SMC for pneumatics, Bonfiglioli for gearboxes, SKF for bearings, Gefran for temperature control, Pepperl+Fuchs for sensing, and Euchner for safety interlocks. A machine with a Beckhoff CP-series panel PC and Siemens drives can be supported by a local integrator without any factory involvement, which materially de-risks buying an import brand with no North American service network.
That absence of a North American service presence is the main consideration on the used market. There is no U.S. subsidiary, so support means either direct contact with the factory in Gujarat or a local integrator. Inspect screw and barrel wear, extrusion head and die condition, parison controller function and whether the original controller is present, clamp tonnage and platen wear, and the state of the tie bars and shuttle mechanism. Confirm the control generation and that the HMI is intact and licensed, and verify that tooling, trim stations, and the leak detector are actually included, since these are frequently unbundled in resale. Electrical supply is worth checking closely - machines built for the Indian market may be configured for 415V 50Hz and require a transformer or drive reconfiguration for 480V 60Hz North American service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who makes CMP blow molding machines?
CMP stands for Central Machinery & Plastic Products, an Indian manufacturer with a head office in Goregaon, Mumbai and a factory at Umergaon, Gujarat, and more than fifty years of blow moulding machine production. The company exports across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States. CMP should not be confused with C&M, an unrelated equipment maker, or with Chia Ming of Taiwan, which uses CMP as a product series name on its PP stretch blow machines.
How do I read a CMP model number like 2000/DH/2?
The numeric prefix is the container capacity class in millilitres, so 2000 indicates a 2-litre machine. DH denotes the double-head configuration, and the trailing number is the station count - so a 2000/DH/2 is a 2-litre-class double-head, double-station machine. On auto-deflashing machines you will also see SDH, TDH, or LDH series prefixes, and combined designations such as 1L2TDH that pack capacity, station count, and series into one string.
Can a CMP machine be supported in North America?
There is no U.S. subsidiary, so factory support means dealing with the plant in Gujarat directly. In practice the machines are straightforward to support locally because CMP builds with mainstream components rather than proprietary subsystems - Beckhoff controls, Siemens, Schneider and ABB electrics, Moog, Yuken, Atos, Hydac and Hydroline hydraulics, Festo and SMC pneumatics, Bonfiglioli gearboxes, SKF bearings. Any competent integrator or hydraulic shop can service these. Check power configuration before purchase, since machines built for the Indian market may be wired for 415V 50Hz.
