About Haven
Haven Manufacturing Corporation was founded in 1956 in New Haven, Michigan, and moved the operation to Brunswick, Georgia in 1971. The company designs and builds machinery for cutting and finishing metal tube and bar, and it is still based at Sterling Industrial Park in Brunswick.
The product that made the name is the dual-blade shear, introduced in the late 1970s. A horizontal blade nicks the tube and a vertical blade shears through that groove, which is why tube mills use Havens for high-rate recut of round, square, and shaped tube. Current dual-blade sizes on the builder's charts run from the small 801/803 through the 871, 873, and 875, with manual-feed 871M and 873M versions. Haven also builds end-finishing and deburring so a mill can run from bundle to finished length.
In 1999 Haven added a supported-shear line, later sold as Kleencut, and it offers the HavenTrak flying shear plus cold-saw bar cutting. A 2009 partnership with SOCO Machinery expanded the saw side. The factory still sells tooling for the machines it has built: cutoff dies, blades, feedrolls, and end-finisher jaws and heads.
On the used market, confirm the model and outside-diameter range before pricing. An 871 (to about 1.5 inch) and an 873 (about 0.5 to 3 inch) are different machines, and a bundle loader, target, and exit conveyor may or may not be in the sale. Cutting heads on the 871, 872, and 873 can be serviced, and Haven runs a loaner-head program so a mill can keep cutting during a rebuild. Ask whether the head has been rebuilt and which control is on the machine.

What does a used Haven tube cut-off actually do?
It recuts mill-length tube into finished lengths, usually with a dual-blade shear rather than a cold saw. Mills buy them for rate and for a clean shear on round and shaped tube.
How do I tell an 871 from an 873?
The model is on the head. Haven's dual-blade chart lists the 871 for roughly 0.187 to 1.5 inch tube and the 873 for roughly 0.5 to 3 inch. Do not price from a photo of the guards alone.
Are parts still available?
Haven still supplies cutoff dies, blades, and feedrolls, and it services 871, 872, and 873 cutting heads, including a loaner head during a rebuild. Confirm the model so the tooling matches.
What should be included with the machine?
Ask about the bundle loader, target stop, exit conveyor, and any deburr or end finisher. Those change both the footprint and what a buyer can run on day one.
What wears out on an older Haven?
The cutting head, dies, blades, and feedrolls. A rebuilt head and a set of dies for the seller's tube sizes are worth more than a bare head with no tooling.
