About Moditec

FranceEst. 1981

Moditec traces its origins to 1981, when Richard Diaz opened a sales office in Bron in the Rhône region of France. The company incorporated as Moditec Manipulation Plastique and launched its first low-speed Goliath grinder in 1985. Through the late 1980s and 1990s it expanded steadily, relocating to larger premises and introducing the BM range of conventional grinders in 1989 and the heavy-duty Bigger series for very large plastic parts in 1999. After a period of ownership by Rapid Granulator AB of Sweden beginning in 2007, the original French founders re-established the business in 2010 under the name Montage Diffusion Technique, continuing production of the full granulator lineup from a facility in the Vienne department south of Lyon.

Moditec's core product line is its Goliath Plus ACP series of low-speed, toothed-roller granulators, which run at approximately 25 rpm and span a wide range of cutting-chamber sizes. The G-series lineup runs from the compact G1 ACP with a single large cutter and two toothed rollers up through multi-cutter configurations such as the G2S ACP and G4S ACP, which add screw-feed infeed for continuous beside-press operation. The Titan Plus series handles larger plastic components including automotive parts, while the Mini Goliath targets very fine sprues down to 1 mm in diameter. The BM series addresses softer and rubbery materials at higher rotational speeds. A patented Integrated Metal Detection system, introduced in 2005, shuts the machine down instantly if metal enters the cutting chamber, protecting the tooling.

Moditec granulators serve plastics processors across a broad range of end markets. Injection molding operations in the automotive sector rely on the Titan Plus and larger Goliath models to recycle bumpers, dashboards, and structural components. Electronics and computer hardware manufacturers use the G-series ACP machines beside their presses to reclaim engineered resins such as ABS, PC, POM, PBT, and glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide. The pharmaceutical and chemical industries value the clean, dust-free regrind output for applications where contamination control is critical.

Buyers seeking used Moditec granulators on the secondary market consistently cite the machines' robust all-steel construction and long service life as primary reasons for their strong resale value. The reversible combs and counter-combs double the usable life of the cutting elements, keeping maintenance costs low. Because the slow-speed design generates minimal heat and friction, the molecular structure of thermoplastic regrind is preserved, allowing processors to blend it directly back with virgin resin. Spare parts and replacement blades remain widely available through an established global service network, making used Moditec granulators a practical, cost-effective choice for processors looking to add beside-press recycling capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Moditec known for?

Moditec is known for pioneering low-speed, toothed-roller plastic granulators that operate at around 25 rpm, producing clean, dust-free regrind without degrading the molecular structure of engineered thermoplastics. Their Goliath Plus ACP and Titan Plus series are widely used for beside-press recycling of injection molding sprues, runners, and reject parts.

Where are Moditec granulators manufactured?

Moditec granulators are designed and manufactured in France, at a facility in the Vienne department south of Lyon. The company has operated in the greater Lyon region since its founding in 1981 and continues to produce its full granulator lineup there today.

What materials can a used Moditec granulator process?

Moditec granulators are engineered to handle tough engineering-grade thermoplastics including ABS, polycarbonate, POM, PBT, and glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide, as well as softer and rubbery materials in the BM series. The slow-speed cutting action preserves the material's properties, yielding regrind that can typically be blended directly back with virgin resin.
