About Una-Dyn
Una-Dyn (Universal Dynamics, Inc.) was founded in 1957 in Rosslyn, Virginia and grew into one of the most established American manufacturers of resin drying and material handling equipment for the plastics industry. The company spent over a decade under German ownership after industrial filtration maker MANN+HUMMEL acquired it in 1995 for roughly $12 million, then was sold in 2008 to Italy's Piovan Group as MANN+HUMMEL refocused on its core automotive filter business. Una-Dyn has operated as a Piovan company ever since, and the brand is now often presented as Piovan UnaDyn.
In 2017 and 2018 the company relocated roughly 35 miles from its longtime Woodbridge, Virginia plant to a newly outfitted 90,000 square foot facility in Fredericksburg, Virginia, designed around lean manufacturing principles and roughly doubling production capacity. That Fredericksburg site is now the Piovan Group's North American headquarters and also builds Aquatech process cooling equipment for the region. Buyers researching older machines should note that documentation, nameplates, and service records may reference any of three addresses depending on vintage: Rosslyn, Woodbridge, or Fredericksburg.
Una-Dyn manufactures the Carousel Plus and IPC desiccant resin dryers, covering throughputs from small cell-side units up to large central drying systems, along with the Pet-Saver dryer engineered specifically for crystallizing and drying PET resin in beverage bottle production, the DHD and DC series dehumidifying dryers, the Vantage series energy-efficient dryers, vacuum loaders and receivers, Automate loaders, volumetric and gravimetric blenders, granulators, and complete central material handling systems including silos, bin sweeps, and conveying lines. Related product names encountered on used equipment include AutoLoad, AutoGrind, AutoDry, and H2O Engineered Water Systems.
Used Una-Dyn equipment is popular on the secondary market because of robust American construction, broad model coverage from cell-side to plant-wide systems, and the fact that Piovan continues to support the Una-Dyn legacy installed base through its North American operation. PET processors in particular seek out used Pet-Saver systems, since the crystallizing and drying requirements for bottle-grade PET are unforgiving and purpose-built equipment outperforms general-purpose dryers. Common inspection points on used Una-Dyn dryers include desiccant condition, heater and blower health, dewpoint sensor presence and calibration, regeneration valve operation, and control system generation. On conveying systems, check vacuum pump condition, filter status, and whether the original central controller is intact, since replacing a proprietary central control is often more expensive than the mechanical hardware it operates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Una-Dyn make?
Una-Dyn (Universal Dynamics) manufactures resin drying systems (Carousel Plus, IPC, DHD, DC series desiccant dryers and Pet-Saver PET dryers), vacuum conveying systems and loaders, volumetric and gravimetric blenders, and complete central material handling systems including silos and bulk resin handling for plastics processing.
Why buy used Una-Dyn equipment?
Used Una-Dyn dryers, blenders, and conveying equipment offer dependable American-built drying and material handling at significant savings versus new. With Piovan now supporting the legacy Una-Dyn installed base, parts and service are widely available - making used Una-Dyn a low-risk way to add capacity.
What should I inspect on a used Una-Dyn dryer or material handling system?
On dryers, inspect desiccant condition, heater band and blower health, dewpoint sensor and calibration, regeneration valve operation, and control system function. On vacuum loaders and conveying systems, inspect vacuum pump condition, filter status, line wear, control sequencing, and on blenders, the load cells (gravimetric) or auger drives (volumetric).
What are the most popular Una-Dyn models on the used market?
Common used Una-Dyn models include the Carousel Plus desiccant dryers, IPC dryers (cell-side and central), Pet-Saver PET crystallizer-dryers for beverage preform production, DHD and DC dehumidifying dryers, vacuum loaders and central conveying systems, and volumetric/gravimetric blenders.
Is Una-Dyn still in business?
Yes. Una-Dyn (Universal Dynamics) operates as a brand within Italy's Piovan Group (acquired 2007), with parts, service, and engineering support for the entire Una-Dyn legacy installed base provided through Piovan North America. New equipment continues to be sold under the Una-Dyn brand.
