Used Mold & Product Line Price Ranges

In our own auction results, molds and product lines have brought $2,000–$27,000; a complete turnkey line with its presses and automation runs far higher. What moves the price — cavity count, steel, hot or cold runner, condition and maintenance history, and whether the product still has a market. Call Meadoworks at 800-323-0307 to talk through a line.

What to Inspect on a Used Mold

Cavities and cores — wear, polish and damage on parting lines and shut-offs.

Cooling — waterlines open and free of scale.

Runner system — hot runner zones heat and read; cold runner gates are clean.

Records — shot count, last maintenance, the press it ran in and sample parts.

Mold & Product Line Applications

Used molds and product lines let a processor add a proven product fast: consumer and housewares items, containers and closures, automotive and industrial components, and lines sold whole from a plant closure or product transition.

Spec Ranges on the Molds We Have Listed

Closure and cap molds — the high-cavitation molds we have listed run 32 to 72 cavities: a 32-cavity overcap mold with an Incoe hot runner, a 64-cavity 38 mm closure stack mold and two 72-cavity PCO closure molds.

Product lines — we have sold cable tie molds and a 5-gallon bucket and lid mold set, along with the mold racks, quick-change frames and transfer carts that go with tooling.

Cavity count, stack height and the hot runner decide which press a mold needs, so read them against your clamp before you price the mold.

How to Choose a Used Mold or Product Line

Start with the part and whether it still sells: a mold is only worth what its product earns. Then match the mold to a press you have — width and height inside the tie bars, stack height inside the daylight, shot weight inside the barrel and the clamp tonnage the part needs.

Prefer a mold that comes with its records: shot count, last maintenance, the press and resin it ran, and sample parts. A hot runner needs a controller with enough zones, and a complete product line is easiest to restart when the press, robot and auxiliary equipment that ran it come together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Meadoworks sell used injection molds?

Yes, we periodically have injection molds, blow molds, and complete product lines available from facility closures and product transitions. Mold availability changes frequently, so contact us with your specific requirements and we'll help locate appropriate tooling.

What information do I need to evaluate a used mold?

Key mold information includes: number of cavities, steel type, runner type (cold runner vs. hot runner), cycle time, shot weight, part dimensions, and maintenance history. Photos of the cavity, core, waterlines, and any wear areas help assess condition.

What is a turnkey product line?

A turnkey product line includes everything needed to manufacture a specific product: molds, processing machine, auxiliary equipment, and sometimes automation and secondary operations. Purchasing a complete line lets you enter production quickly with proven tooling and established processes.

What does a used injection mold cost?

In our own auction results, molds and product lines have brought $2,000–$27,000. Price depends on cavity count, steel, hot or cold runner, condition and whether the product still sells; a complete turnkey line with presses costs far more. Call 800-323-0307 to discuss a mold or line.

Will a used mold fit my injection molding machine?

Check the mold's width and height against your tie-bar spacing, its stack height against the press's minimum and maximum daylight, the shot weight against your barrel, the clamp tonnage the part needs, and the locating ring and ejector pattern. Call 800-323-0307 with both specs and we will compare them.
