About Arburg
Arburg was founded in 1923 by Arthur Hehl in Lossburg, Germany, where the company has manufactured all of its products ever since. The family-owned business, now in its third generation under the Hehl and Keinath families, began producing injection molding machines in the mid-1950s after Karl Hehl developed the first in-house machine in 1954. Serial production launched in 1956, and in 1961 Arburg patented the Allrounder principle, a pivoting clamping unit with an interchangeable injection unit that gave processors remarkable flexibility from a single machine platform. The company has grown to approximately 3,600 employees worldwide and is represented in over 100 countries.
The Allrounder is Arburg's flagship product line and encompasses a broad family of injection molding machines available in hydraulic, hybrid, and fully electric configurations. Key series include the hydraulic Allrounder S and Allrounder Golden Edition, the all-electric Allrounder Alldrive and Allrounder More for multi-component molding, the high-output Allrounder Cube for cube-mold technology, and the newer Allrounder Trend, a fully electric machine designed for standard applications with fast setup and low total cost of ownership. Clamping forces span from 125 kN to 6,500 kN, and machines are controlled by Arburg's proprietary Selogica and Gestica control systems. The portfolio also includes the Freeformer for industrial additive manufacturing using standard granulate materials, plus a range of Multilift robotic systems.
Arburg machines serve a wide range of end markets. Medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing is the company's largest segment in North America, with clean-room-ready configurations and stainless-steel options supporting high-precision, high-cleanliness production. Automotive and mobility suppliers rely on Arburg presses for technical components, multi-component parts, and lightweight construction applications. Packaging producers use high-speed electric and cube-mold machines for thin-wall containers and closures, while electronics, consumer goods, and optical component manufacturers depend on Arburg's precision and repeatability for demanding surface and tolerance requirements.
Used Arburg injection molding machines are consistently sought after on the secondary market for several reasons. The company's reputation for robust German engineering means machines routinely accumulate tens of thousands of operating hours while maintaining dimensional accuracy and process stability. Arburg's modular architecture makes it straightforward to reconfigure or upgrade a used machine for a new application, and genuine spare parts remain widely available through Arburg's global service network. Electric and hybrid Allrounders offer meaningful energy savings compared with older hydraulic equipment, making a well-maintained used Arburg an attractive investment for processors looking to reduce operating costs without the lead time or capital outlay of a new machine.
