About Used OBI Presses
OBI (open back inclinable) presses, also called gap frame presses or C-frame presses, are the most common type of mechanical stamping press. The open-back design allows scrap and finished parts to fall freely through the rear of the press, while the inclinable feature lets the press be tilted backward for gravity-assisted part ejection. OBI presses range from small 10-ton bench models to 400-ton production machines.
Key specifications include tonnage capacity, bed size, stroke length, shut height, strokes per minute, and slide adjustment. OBI presses are used for blanking, piercing, forming, drawing, and embossing operations in high-volume metal stamping production.
Meadoworks stocks used OBI presses from Minster, Bliss, Aida, Niagara, V&O, and USM. Contact us at 800-323-0307 for OBI press pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an OBI press?
An OBI (open back inclinable) press is a gap frame mechanical press with an open rear that allows parts and scrap to drop through. The inclinable feature lets the press tilt backward for gravity-assisted part ejection. OBI presses are the most common stamping press type, used for blanking, piercing, forming, and progressive die operations in metal stamping shops.
How much does a used OBI press cost?
Used OBI press prices range from $3,000 for small bench presses to $150,000+ for large 200+ ton models with servo feeds. Pricing depends on tonnage, bed size, speed, brand, and condition. Minster and Aida OBI presses hold strong resale value. Contact Meadoworks at 800-323-0307 for current pricing.
